Rosas y Espinas

"If there is one power that elevates us as humanity, it is the power to love."

In the "Rosas y Espinas" (Roses and Thorns) concert, mezzo-soprano Mariana De la Rosa sings to the universal power of love. Accompanied by Jean Wiedrick on piano, this concert combines classical voice and piano, exploring the many facets of love through a repertoire composed mainly of Mexican and Italian pieces.

From the eternal alternation between love and despair - the roses and the thorns - to sincere friendship and family ties, to love transcending even death, each chapter of this complex sentiment is revealed with infinite sensitivity. Guided by Mariana De la Rosa's spellbinding voice, the audience is invited to plunge into the pages of this timeless book of love, already leafed through by so many souls, whatever their experience.

  • This concert highlights Mariana De la Rosa's debut album, but also seeks to break down barriers between people, exploring the subject of love. It also seeks to disseminate the classic repertoire of Mexican nationalism.

  • Musica proibita (Stanislao Gastaldon)

    Yo no sé (María Grever)

El beso que no te pude dar (Mariana De la Rosa and Alejandro De la Garza)

    Besos robados (Jorge del Moral)

Transposed Roots

A tribute to French songs

"Five years ago, my roots were transposed to a new land. Now I'm blooming."

In her concert Racines Transposées, mezzo-soprano Mariana De la Rosa pays tribute to the French songs that have accompanied her on her journey. A road that began in her homeland and carried her all the way to her adopted land, where "La foule" took her in its arms, enabling her to start afresh and continue to blossom.
From Mexico to Quebec, she carried "Cent mille chansons" and many dreams in her suitcase. Little by little, she is blossoming in her new home, passing on this pride through the music that has always nurtured her, like the greatest "Story of a Love".

Great titles from French-language music come together in this production of classical vocals, piano (Alexandre Nadeau) and percussion (Alex Hébert) in classical-style arrangements, to compose a "Hymne à l'amour".

Synesthesia: Music and colors

Music. Colors. Hope. SYNESTHESIA.

Synesthesia is the ability to perceive colors in sounds. In this multi-disciplinary concert of classical music (piano and voice) and visual arts, we'll bear witness to this fusion.

In this concert, mezzo-soprano Mariana De la Rosa will offer us joyful music of different origins, while contemporary paintings by visual artist Étienne Saint-Amant will become dynamic projections. The colors of the synesthetic interpretation of each musical piece will be imprinted in these visual works, making this concert a unique experience. We'll be able to let ourselves go with pieces by Schubert, Fauré, Glinka and Yamada, among others. But also, smile and move to others like "O sole mio", "Rossignol" and the colorful "Brasil".

  • Synesthesia: Music and Color will be an opportunity to remind us how music can unite us as humanity. An occasion to remind us how music and the arts can nourish our souls. An occasion to celebrate that we're here, to celebrate life.

    Main topics:

    • World unity (represented in the various languages of the pieces).

    • Synesthesia: colors derived from the synesthetic observations of Hector Torres and imprinted in the works of Étienne Saint-Amant. This subject represents the richness and cohesion between different artistic currents.

    • Hope: printed in a rather cheerful and positive repertoire.

    • Tribute to the victims of social injustice: Amazing grace.

  • Frühlingsglaube - F. Schubert

    O sole mio - E. di Capua

    Marecchiare - F.P.Tosti

    Aka Tombo - K. Yamada

    Brasil - A. Barroso

Eurotour

Concert of European classical and folk music

"The Eurotour is an opportunity to discover the beautiful continent of Europe through music. Cities, cultures, ways of thinking, artistic movements - in short, you'll recognize them in the works of Schubert, Fauré, Rachmaninov, Obradors and many others.

Let mezzo-soprano Mariana De la Rosa transport you to Spain, France, Italy, Russia and other beautiful places."

  • The Eurotour is primarily an educational project. It's a journey to our European roots. With a very varied repertoire, touching on several countries of the old continent and several different languages, it was a perfect opportunity to discover just how great a diversity of styles, characters and essences there is in such a small territory. What's more, we can't deny that experiencing travel is a luxury for many people in Quebec. So, if we can't go to Europe, Europe is coming to us!

  • El Vito (Spain) - F. Obradors

    Ständchen (Austria) - F. Schubert

En sourdine (France) - G. Fauré

Lisboa Antiga (Portugal) - R. Portela

Oh Danny Boy (Ireland) - F. Weatherly

Duality

Concert of opera characters

10 opera arias, 8 characters, 2 genres...1 singer!

  • With the Dualité concert, Mariana De la Rosa aims to demystify opera, showing it as a genre accessible to all kinds of audiences. Whether or not it's the audience's first time at the opera, this artist wants them to understand the stories, despite the language, and to understand that opera was a form of entertainment for all in its day. This project also seeks to demystify the concept of gender expression, thanks to the alternations in the characters, and to show it as something natural across the arts.
